Steffen Jahn
Jahn describes his style as graphic, reduced and concentrated, and in this he differs from many of his professional colleagues. he makes painstaking preparations for all shootings, checking everything very carefully and making back-up plans. „I don´t need a dog-and-pony-show with light-trucks and dozends of assistants to impress an agency or a clients.“ With productions that cost a horrendous sum of money, like when a passenger jet and a runway are booked, the photographer impresses more with organisational talent and ensuring the whole job runs smoothly. „If you haven´t taken care of all the details, there´s no excuse“ he says „ The team I have around me works very hard and in a highly concentrated fashion, to ensure that everything works. Yet the odd unexpected surprise on location can be quite exciting - reacting to that brings brand new ways of seeing things and images that you can never plan in advance“. This mix of professionalism, flexibilty and high photographic skill goes down very well with technically oriented clients, and jahn´s portfolio reads like a Who´s Who of the automotive and technology sector. For names like DaimlerChrysler, BMW, Porsche and Mercedes Benz or Fuji, Bose and HP, Jahn composes pictures with his viewcamera, lending elegance, atmosphere and character to what are in essence lifeless products.
